I discovered a nice piece of history behind the large 9 on 57 St. placed outside the Solow Building in NY. The large 9 sculpture designed by Ivan Chermayeff of Chermayeff & Geismar, the NY based branding & graphic design firm. The sculpture was created in response to complaints that the buildings front sloping glass reflection ‘revealed unappealing sides of the neighboring historic buildings’.
